Huawei, including other companies, is now facing difficulties to pursue business with U.S. entities. Google has to comply with the new trade blacklist which includes Huawei and 68 of its subsidiaries. The said bar was enacted since last week after the Chinese tech giant was place on the Entity List. This bars the company from purchasing equipment from U.S. companies unless it gets approval from the government. However, Commerce Department is unlikely to give the permission as of the moment.

Prior to the said bar, the Trump administration accused Huawei of working with the Communist Party of China to install backdoors in network equipment owned by international networks. Though there was no proof of the allegations, the bar was still put in place.

Companies like Google, Qualcomm, Intel, and NVIDIA are now prohibited to sell or deal with Huawei and other companies which are included in the Entity list. Huawei relies on Google to gain access on Android’s closed portions and the Play Services suite.

According to Reuters, Google will not remove Play Services support for existing phones but no updates will be provided. It will no longer certify new phones as well. Huawei uses Android’s open source libraries to build EMUI’s core codebase. It is not clear if Huawei will even get the updated to Android Q though it has previously announced to be released to the public later this summer.

As for the thriving PC business of Huawei, it purchases components from Intel and NVIDIA. This means this can also get affected by the bar as well.
